Character —
Character Name: Doreen Green
Character Canon: Marvel 616 comics (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!)
Character Age: 20
Canon Point: after The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #36, when she and Kraven the Hunter part ways
Link to History: here!
Inventory: Doreen will arrive in costume, and if possible, I'd like to bring along her best squirrel friend, Tippy-Toe! Tippy is a 100% normal grey squirrel who has no powers apart from sass (which only Doreen can understand) and fashion sense. Her three favourite activities are, in her own words, "fighting crime, helping you (Doreen) fight crime, and helping you help me fight some friggin' crime." Tippy usually hangs out on Doreen's shoulder when they're on patrol, and hides in her purse when Doreen's in civilian mode.
I'd also like to bring in Doreen's 'Deadpool's Guide to Supervillains' trading cards, but instead of containing any useful information, each card will just have a little picture of Deadpool shrugging, and a speech bubble that says "LOL NOPE, MULTIVERSE SHENANIGANS, SORRY"

Powers —
Skills:
Conflict mediation: In her case, it's practically a superpower. Doreen is a deeply empathetic person and a great listener, and she's surprisingly good at talking things out with potential enemies and coming up with alternate solutions to their problems before things turn violent. This works better than you'd think, since many supervillains and criminals are caught off guard by her earnest approach: she once managed to convince Kraven the Hunter to try hunting immortal sea monsters instead of Spider-man, and talked a rampaging anthropomorphic hippo into applying for a job at a demolition company instead of robbing a bank. Hell, she even befriended Galactus the World-Eater after redirecting him to an uninhabited planet full of nuts (the perfect snack food!).
Computer science! Doreen is a second year CS student, and is good at programming, coding and database management. I, as a player, absolutely am not, so the technical side of this will probably not come up very often.
Basic fighting skills: Doreen can hold her own in a fight, but she usually won't go on the offensive unless the situation really calls for it.
Superpowers:
Squirrel Physiology She has the powers of both squirrel and girl!
Talking to Squirrels! Doreen can talk to squirrels, and naturally understands and speaks their language (which is called Squirrelese). Additionally, any squirrel that spends much time around her seems to understand spoken English. This doesn't mean that she can command squirrels, though, this isn't a telepathic Ant-Man situation. If an mob of squirrels swarms someone during a fight, that's because Doreen has befriended every squirrel in the mob and asked them all for help.
Trail mix generation This one is just for the game. As long as she's wearing her utility belt, Doreen will be able to generate trail mix and mixed nuts within the pockets, meaning that she has a constant supply of snack food and squirrel treats.
Limitations:
Squishy human mortality: She's pretty tough, but Doreen can still be stabbed, shot, etc etc.
Her own good nature: Doreen is a kind-hearted person who tries to assume the best of other people when she can, which means that she can be slow on the uptake when someone is untrustworthy, and sometimes gives the benefit of the doubt to people who really don’t deserve it. This has backfired on her several times before.
Squirrels are pretty flimsy: Doreen is super strong and tough! Squirrels are... not. If squirrels are helping her out during a fight, they usually rely on their sheer numbers to overwhelm people, but individually they are small and easily hurt, and Doreen will be devastated if anything happens to them (it's happened before! It's awful and traumatizing!).
Personality —
Please EITHER (1) Summarize your character's personality — including motivations, behaviors, and psychology — in 300-600 words OR (2) Respond to the questions below.
Doreen Green is a squirrel-themed superhero and second-year university student who fights crime with creatively-deployed squirrels, punches, and excellent listening skills. Doreen has no tragic backstory, and no dramatic reasoning behind her career - she grew up with loving, supportive parents, and has wanted to be a superhero since she was a little kid. She loves having a job that lets her help people while doing awesome things like fighting dinosaurs on top of the Statue of Liberty, although it can be tricky to balance alongside her studies and her personal life.
Out of costume, Doreen is... exactly the same person. Considering that she doesn't wear a mask as Squirrel Girl, and that her 'civilian disguise' is literally just stuffing her tail down her pants, it's a miracle that more people haven't guessed her secret identity yet (although to be fair, many have, and are just polite enough not to mention it). Doreen is an earnest, optimistic goofball who loves her friends, computer science, and terrible puns, and she tackles everything in her life with 300% enthusiasm and genuine self-confidence. Who cares if other people think that her squirrel powers are silly, or mistake her optimism for naivete? Squirrels are great, Doreen likes herself just fine, and the rest of the world is just gonna have to deal with it and catch up.
Since starting college, Doreen has been trying to hide her secret identity in order to set some boundaries between her hero life and civilian life. Unfortunately, Doreen is a naturally honest person who is terrible at lying, and even worse at subtlety – this is someone whose idea of keeping a low profile is declaring 'CARRY ON STUDENTS, YOU'RE SAFE NOW, I DON'T GO TO SCHOOL HERE' while fighting villains on campus. She also tends to assume that other people are just as straightforward as she is, which can lead to misunderstandings like the time she showed up on Laura Kinney's doorstep with a live wolverine, assuming that someone whose superhero name is Wolverine would be able to speak to her namesake animal like she can.
When it comes to fighting crime, Doreen always tries to talk things out before resorting to violence. She's a great sympathetic listener who knows that people have their reasons for Doing Crimes, and if someone's just having a bad day, or can’t find a job, then Doreen's happy to help. Half the reason she's called 'The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl' is because she's good at defusing situations before they turn violent in the first place. (The other half is because she once canonically beat up Thanos, but she tried talking to him first!) This approach doesn't work with everybody though, and if her opponent is an actual threat, Doreen is fine with punching first and mediating later. She has been known to deliver bank robbers to the police with notes that say "Hello! I could use help with my anger management skills, and maybe a financial advisor!" taped to their shirts.
People often dismiss Doreen as a naïve, idealistic idiot who will give a hundred second chances to people who barely deserve one, but underneath all the optimism and dorky puns, Doreen is very serious about her values and moral code. Her positive outlook is a deliberate choice, and she truly believes that deep down, people are basically good, and that nobody is beyond redemption. In her mind, there's no point in being a superhero if you don't think that people can change for the better, and she'll keep believing that even if it backfires on her.

Areas of Interest / Brainstorming:
Doreen is just here for a good time! She won't be too freaked out by being stuck in another dimension - she was once trapped in the 1960's for a week, and that worked out just fine. She'll likely remain independent for a while before eventually joining up with the Guardian Alliance and trying to find a way home, but she'll be trying to make friends with everybody along the way, hero and villain alike.
As a player, I'm interested in bouncing her off other characters - the USG comics are pretty self-contained, and it's always fun to see how she gets along with characters who aren't from goofy, lighthearted canons like hers. Doreen has also been doing the superhero thing for a while, and is pretty confident in herself, so she'd make a good sympathetic listener and/or big sister figure to any younger heroes who are having trouble adjusting. At some point I'd also like to get her to open up about some of the not-so-great stuff that's happened to her in canon - she almost asphyxiated to death on the moon once, and never mentioned it again, so there are definitely some things in her life that she is just Not Dealing With.
Also, ngl, with all the MCU characters here, it's probably just a matter of time before Doreen mentions offhand that she once beat up Thanos, and that is gonna be like smacking a hornet's nest with a big stick.
